What is the difference between a passive house and an energy-efficient house?
Back to guideModern construction is focused on energy savings. This is grounded in both economic and environmental issues. Whatever the reason, we are keen to reduce the use of thermal energy. To achieve this, it is necessary to modify the structural elements in a residential building or, in the case of building a house from scratch, to select them accordingly. Passive house and energy-efficient house are two directions that differ from each other, but they are guided by the same goal – to reduce energy emissions.
Energy-efficient house – what makes it different?
An energy-efficient house is an assumption based on the best possible insulation, which will maintain the right temperature in the house and not drain it to the outside. Thermal insulation is based on proper insulation of the building – walls, floors and ceilings. It is important to limit the exterior walls – the simpler the body of the building, the easier it is to insulate the house and keep the interior heated. It is also important to choose the right front door, interior door and windows for an energy-efficient house. The elements must not be leaky, and their heat coefficient should be adequate to the specific framework set by the Clean Air program, among others.
Passive house – characteristics
A passive house is not only geared to save energy, but also to produce it. The minimization of energy demand in a passive house is significant – less than 15kWh(m2) per year. Passive house energy recovery is solved by, among other things, solar panels, which are installed on the roof of residential buildings. It is best to install them in a place that is most exposed to sunlight. In addition, the layout of the house also plays an important function. Rooms, such as the living room and kitchen, where we spend the most time, should be located in the space of greatest illumination. In the case of Polish standards, this is south. The effect is exacerbated by the use of glazing, which intensifies the extraction of sunlight. We are talking about fanlights, luxspheres and windows with a large surface area.
Doors for passive and energy-efficient homes
For both passive and energy-efficient homes, good thermal insulation is an important issue. Doors and garage doors available in our 2022 StalProdukt Zamosc catalog meet the requirements of the Clean Air program. Their proper sealing and manufacturing materials allow you to thermally insulate your home and maintain the right temperature in the interiors throughout the year. Depending on individual needs, you will find doors and gates of different lengths and color variants. The wide availability of the product allows you to choose the ideal solution for the given style and needs of the space. You can find more information in our catalog.
