How to decorate an apartment in urban jungle style?

Back to guide

The beginning of the year is a time when we make a list of resolutions and open ourselves to change, including around ourselves at home. The unstable situation in the world and climate changes make us lean even more towards nature, which brings us peace and tranquility. This is not only a way to achieve balance, but also to create cozy corners in the interiors of homes. Interior design specialists say that the new 2023 will be an urban jungle time in interiors.

What is urban jungle style?

Urban jungle is a trend created by lovers of plants and greenery in interiors, which is gaining more and more enthusiasts. Plants in the apartment make the space cozy and warm. Pots look good with earth-colored accessories, and they also go well with wood, rattan and wicker. The urban jungle trend itself has many advantages, including health benefits (houseplants clean the air of harmful compounds, produce oxygen, increase humidity and make our eyes rest). Admittedly, it requires more attention than standard modern-style interiors. Filling an apartment with nature involves taking care of the plants: they need to be watered, fertilized, the soil replaced, pests fought and propagated.

A green jungle can be created at home in two ways. One is to furnish the apartment in earthy colors, complemented by a large dose of green in accessories and plant motifs. The latter can function in the form of decorations – leaves in vases and objects with green motifs. There are many products in this style on the market: monstera leaves and ferns reign supreme. Wallpapers, bedspreads or pillows in floral motifs are a good choice.

The second way is to invest in live plants and set aside places in the house where they will not only look good (potted plants are a real decoration of any interior), but also thrive. Proper placement of potted flowers is important if you don’t want to have dried-out plants in your home after a few weeks. It is worthwhile to read about plants before shopping and find out which conditions they prefer. The light is important (there are plants that do well in partial shade, and there are those that prefer only southern, well-lit windowsills), the type of substrate and humidity. Flowers can be placed not only on windowsills, but also on the dresser or special flowerbeds set on the floor. They also look good by the windows in hanging macramé flowerbeds made of string. Plants can be placed even in the hallway, especially if the outer door is partially glazed (such can be found in StalProdukt’s offer). In a dark or semi-dark interior will cope with sansewieria, zamioly-leafed zamioculcas and fiddleheads.
