How to build a detached garage?
Back to guideThe garage is an essential room for any car user. For single-family houses that do not have a dedicated space for a garage, it is advantageous to build a detached garage. This is a good solution only if the plot has a large enough area, and the construction of the garage will not be incompatible with legal requirements. How to build a detached garage?
Garage construction – formal issues
The first step in creating a garage is to prepare a design for the building and the surrounding area. You can create the design yourself, use ready-made construction plans or hire an architect. Regardless of the choice, the design must take into account all the requirements and legal restrictions that come with building a garage. Next, you must obtain a building permit from the architectural and construction administration office, submitting an application at least 30 days before starting construction of the detached garage.
Site preparation before building a garage
When we want to start building a detached garage, the plan must take into account its location in the area. Before starting construction, we designate the place for the garage and adjust it for the placement of foundations and walls. It is important that the surface be flat – if the space we have chosen is slightly raised above the level of the entire plot, it should be leveled.
Construction of foundations and walls in the garage
The construction of a garage is usually handled by a construction crew. Implementation of the project begins with the pouring of concrete foundations, strong enough to withstand the weight of the garage. Then the walls are erected, the material of which depends on the preferences of the future garage user. It is worth choosing options that will be the most thermally insulating. In this regard, it is a good idea to think about additional insulation, which will maintain the right temperature in the room, regardless of the season. The garage walls themselves can be made of concrete, bricks, wood or concrete blocks, for example. Additional thermal insulation protection is provided by the roof, the workmanship of which is no less important – it is the one that protects the interior from adverse weather conditions, excessive moisture or tightness.
Garage door and windows in new garage
Windows and garage door should provide tightness and ventilation. Garage doors are our specialty – in the offer of StalProdukt Zamosc you will find a number of sectional doors that guarantee the convenience of the room and its adequate protection. If you want your garage to be energy efficient, we recommend choosing a thermally insulated gate. Aesthetic qualities depend on your specific preferences – we offer panels with narrow and wide embossments, as well as their wide range of colors, which will perfectly blend in with the style of your new garage.
